An old interview, but very true to what Cordoa is today. A good way to learn more abou this project and my background.
“How did you first get involved in shoemaking?
I was living in Milan where I had my own line of fashion accessories (made by an Italian artisan and some pieces made by me) when I decided that designing shoes would be a natural next move for me, as Portugal has a great tradition in shoe production.
I started working with a factory in São João da Madeira in 2004 but I was very naive and little did I know that this industry was so complex and demanding in its long supply chain. I soon had to quit my brand (the quantities sold were not interesting the factories). Fortunately, I had meanwhile opened other doors and started working with the French brand MAJE, designing their first shoe collections (they were only trading in clothes till that time). My company started then focusing on consulting, shoe design and production agency for fashion brands. Along with MAJE, I worked with other French and Swedish brands.”
